Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan are usually lauded for their elegant sense of styling. The sister duo inspires many whether they are in a sari or a simple LBD but there are times when they too make fashion faux pas, just like us. The thing is, we don’t have a team working for us all the time whose only job is to curate and monitor every look but they do and only for this reason, it is inexcusable to not come up with a stellar look. Recently. what the Kapoor sisters wore to their respective events made us want to close our eyes.
Kareena Kapoor Khan was seen at a book launch for her nutritionist, Rujuta Diwekar in gaudy separates from Missoni. The colour-block chevron print top which she paired with a patterned skirt is something we would never go for.
You might as well see us dead before you spot us in something like this! We fail to understand how she gave the go-ahead to this outfit as it’s totally tasteless. However, she looked nice neck-up with her hair tied up neatly in a ponytail, natural make-up and a soft pink pout. We also like those long tassel earrings from Valliyan but definitely not her outfit.
Airport looks can be tricky and it’s not a good idea to overdo it but still keep up the fashion aspect up to the mark. The rule is to keep it simple and the functionality of your outfit should be apparent, say experts.
Ankita Bajaj from brand Vans India, Harkirat Singh of Woodland Worldwide and Vandana Anurag of The Parisian Boudoir have rolled out some tips for all fashionistas who love to fly in style.
* Trending since 2016, white sneakers are a must to pull off airport runs in style. It’s impossible not to be able to pair these with any look — be it joggers, a dress, boyfriend jeans, midi skirts and even basic denim shorts.
* Instead of carrying a bunch of small things in multiple bags, carry a big lightweight tote. Tote bags not only look sophisticated but also help you to fit everything in one place, laptop and fashion magazines included.
* Always carry a warm jacket no matter how hot it is outside as the temperature inside the plane is always colder.
* Shoes with padded ankles call for total comfort when it comes to walking from one end of the airport to another. Be it low tops or high tops, always look for a padded ankle to steer clear of shoe bites.
* Flared pants are an absolute favourite nowadays and are here to stay. They are not only comfortable but very stylish and add that extra edge even to your simple attire. Jeans are the basic wardrobe essentials and are perfect for travelling, pair them up with a sweatshirt and your look is complete.
* You can go for jumpsuits or maxi dresses as they are extremely airy and comfortable to carry and look very stylish too.
* Make sure you are wearing a relaxed top while travelling, as you are bound to sit in a confined space for hours. Choose materials like thin knit, cotton or silk. Avoid fabrics that may get wrinkled after sitting for long hours.

Katrina Kaif is known for carrying herself with immense grace. The 33-year-old actress has mostly managed to impress fashion aficionados with her style quotient — during red carpets, press conferences or candid shows. From long flowy gowns to short breezy dresses, Kaif is quite a head turner when she dolls up in chic attires. What’s really striking about her sartorial choices are that she picks comfort first whenever she has to don designer wonders, and it totally works for her.
If you love her taste in fashion and want some inspiration for your wardrobe, your search ends here. We have put together some of her best fashion choices to help you figure out how you can exude panache, even in the most casual wear. Steal a glance at some of the dresses, gowns and skirts from movies, shows and candid appearances here.
RAY OF SUNSHINE
Kaif dazzled at the red carpet donning a flowing, embellished lemon yellow gown by Tony Ward from his Fall 2017 collection. The sequinned gown with sheer yoke panel near the neck resembled one worn by Belle in Beauty and the Beast. The plunging neck and back highlighted her svelte figure.
Kaif recently stepped out in a white striped shirt from Monse Maison which she paired with an asymmetrical black skirt. We like the separates on its own but teamed together it looks equally beautiful with the tan block heels from Paul Andrew. Her make-up and hair by celebrity make-up and hairstylist Daniel Bauer adds a lot of swag to the look with the muted make-up and blow-dried mane.
Ever since Katrina Kaif has stepped into the film industry, she has left people awestruck with her beauty. Nicknamed the Barbie Doll of Bollywood, the 34-year-old has not taken too many significant risks but her style file has evolved considerably in the last one decade. Playing it cool with her soft wavy curls and flaunting floral dresses with minimal accessories, she has kept her style game steady and has rarely been seen in anything extreme. Her flawless skin and svelte figure add to her charisma.
Her casual feminine style is more identifiable for young girls, who like to take inspiration from her wardrobe. From Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani and Namastey London to Baar Baar Dekho and Jagga Jasoos, even the characters she has enacted on-screen have quite an easy breezy and girl-next-door vibe to it.
Looks like bright, cheery shades are the flavour of the season and why not? With monsoon here and the looming presence of dark, grey clouds, adding a little colour to your wardrobe can do no harm. From film promotions to award shows, our Bollywood celebs have been spotted donning solid vibrant colours and pulling it off in style. Let’s take a look at how each one of them has managed to nail the look.
The Jagga Jasoos actress was seen at an event in Mumbai in a beautiful yellow one-shoulder body-hugging dress from Black Halo. She styled it with nude cage sandals from Steve Madden and dainty gold jewellery. Her hair was tied up in a side-swept loose ponytail and her signature make-up with a dewy face and pale pink lips rounded out her look. We love the carefree look.
During another event, Kaif was seen looking beautiful in a red Rebecca Vallance dress, complete with button detail and a thigh-high slit.
Here, too she went for a casually tousled hairdo and a pair of nude sandals to complement her look.
Disha Patani was seen stepping out in a custom Swapnil Shinde dress in New York. The actress paired it with gold gladiators from The Label Life and statement earrings from Minerali Store.
With her hair partly pinned back, she rounded out her look with muted make-up. The colour looked great on her but we just didn’t like the neckline of the dress. Inspite of this, she managed to look lovely.
Aditi Rao Hydari
The Wazir actress is known for her simple but fabulous sense of style and at an event in New York the actress didn’t disappoint us. She looked breathtaking in a custom made lime green gown by Swapnil Shinde.
The halter-neck flowy gown is a gorgeous number and something we would like to add to our wardrobe. She kept her styling equally interesting with a pair of Deepa Gurnani tassel earrings.
Taapsee Pannu’s look at the recently concluded IIFA 2017 wasn’t inspiring at all. The Naam Shabana actor who stepped out in a red gown by Kommal Sood committed a fashion faux pas by going for a make-up perfect for Indian wear complete with a bindi and red roses on her bun. We were a little disappointed as she is someone whose styling, more often than not, is on point. So, we were waiting for her to get back to India to show us her fashion prowess and guess what? She did!
Celebrity stylist Devki B styled the beauty in an unique plum top from Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna with a pair of Kate Spade denims.
It’s not an easy top to carry with the asymmetrical tailoring and long trailing strap flowing effortlessly in the wind but if you want to look like fashionable while been constantly on your feet, it’s the perfect pick. We love her simple messy hairdo and minimal make-up.
Another look we like is her in this quirky print skirt from Sahil Kochhar which she paired with a white lace top and earrings from Gioielli by Parneet Thukral for her upcoming film Anando Brahma.
Ripped, white-washed, bleached, relaxed fit, slim fit, boot cut, low rise or straight cut, denims have a charm of its own and is probably the one item in your wardrobe which is indispensable. There are certainly the weird ones like the mud-smeared jeans which sells for Rs 29,000 but you can totally avoid it. The regular ones can add enough oomph to your style diary if you know how to work it right. To look your best, you can always turn to these celebs for some inspiration.
Anushka Sharma was seen at the airport doing the denim-on-denim trend in a patch-work denim crop jacket and similar high-waisted jeans.
She paired it with a black tank top and white Puma sneakers but you can also go for a white tee here. Usually, we wouldn’t go for two patch-work pieces at the same time but she carried the casual look well.
Alia Bhatt was seen rocking a pair of blue distressed denims with a white V-neck top and a smart two-toned jacket from Sachin and Babi’s Resort 2018 collection.
She carried the casual look well with a pair of metallic sneakers and Dior sunglasses.
Shrug it on
A denim jacket can be worn with almost anything, starting from figure-hugging dresses to flared jeans. It can be your go-to for street style chic and Huma Qureshi followed the same rule when she paired the cool jacket from Madison with a LBD and black Adidas sneakers.
Red and gold is a classic combination but not many would have thought that Bollywood beauties would go for it at IIFA 2017. It just goes to prove that we are in for a whole lot of surprise this year with Katrina Kaif and Taapsee Pannu already starting the celebrations on such a bright note, especially when the unspoken rule at such big events is sticking to montone outfits. Both Kaif and Pannu went for an Indo-fusion look at IIFA Rocks but neither could impress us much with their sartorial choices. However, we think their beauty and hair game were right on point.
Kaif, whose film Jagga Jasoos opposite Ranbir Kapoor is scheduled to release soon was seen in an Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla outfit. We like the shimmer and style of her gold blouse but the red ruffled sari looked really garish.
Even though we appreciate the idea behind pairing such an ususual blouse with a sari, we think a muted colour would have looked better here instead of the blood red one. Celebrity stylist Tanya Ghavri could have done better. But there’s no denying that she looked gorgeous neck-up. A big round of applause for the actress for trying something different with her make-up, especially her hair this time. The deep kohled eyes with the winged liner and red pout looked gorgeous on her and those side-swept soft curls added oomph to her look.
Taapsee Pannu, on the other hand, stepped out in a red gown by Kommal Sood and we think her outfit, make-up and hair was a mismatch. First things first, the brocade work on the flared gown is not something we particulary like.
Alia Bhatt might be the one to give you #casualwear goals but the actress also knows how to clean up well in Indian wear. It’s not very often that this talented actor picks something desi for big, star-studded events, so her appearance at IIFA Rocks made for a really nice change. The fact that she actually nailed the look in this sheer outfit did help a lot. We can’t get over how beautiful she looked in this Manish Malhotra outfit – in fact, nothing short of royalty.
The intricate floral embroidery on the blouse and the lehenga is so lovely that we would happily save up to buy it or if we come across a lot of money then get on our hands on it immediately, without a second thought.
It’s the minute details on the outfit which makes it all the more special, like the shimmery silver tassels on the dupatta. We give celebrity stylist Ami Patel full credit for picking up this dream lehenga and the beauty team for the puffed updo and dewy make-up. It complemented her outfit really well.
She gave us another stellar look in separates from House Of Masaba. The custom-made bow-tie top in a Kite Fish print with flared denim pants and a sheer organza jacket with threadwork looked lovely on the Badrinath Ki Dulhania actor.
